Preview: Back to 1410

Digital/Real media literacy exhibition, for children aged 8 and upWhat happens when digital and analog worlds merge in one space? Visitors to the exhibition “Back in 1410” are protagonists in an interactive journey through time, mastering challenges, solving puzzles, and interacting with characters from the digital world in order to advance in the game. Players are tasked with exploring a medieval city, overcoming challenges, and getting to know local residents who need their help. They can log in with a game card at stations along the way to view their game score, orient themselves on the city map, and earn badges at the various points. A virtual comic-strip rat accompanies the time travelers on their journey through the city.  The visiting travelers help a master builder construct his castle with AI, work as influencers in the pottery workshop, care for a horse, and work together to extinguish a fire. The earned badges correspond to different areas of media literacy: data protection, advertising and spam, self-worth and cooperation, influencing, social communication, information sources and fake news, self-expression, programming, and in-app purchases. When enough badges have been acquired, the journey back to the present can begin.
